The "multiply by 7" method is outdated. Get your dog's real human age based on breed size.

A dog reaches about 15 human years at age 1, and 24 by age 2. After that, aging depends on size: small breeds add about 4 human years per year, medium 5, large 6, and giant breeds 7. Larger dogs age faster.
Small breeds are usually senior around age 10, medium 8–9, and large breeds around 7. Senior dogs benefit from twice-yearly checkups and joint/kidney care.
Dogs pack about 20 years of growth into their first 1–2 years, then age slowly. Multiplying by 7 makes puppies seem too old and senior dogs too young.
Divide the months by 12. For example, 6 months = 0.5 years.
