Dogs metabolize theobromine much more slowly than humans. From about 20mg per kg of body weight, mild symptoms like vomiting appear; over 40mg/kg risks heart problems; over 60mg/kg can cause seizures. The higher the cocoa content (dark, baking), the more dangerous.
